Illuminated Love: A Captured Moment at Howden Minster

I am thrilled to announce yet another accolade for my work from the Guild of Photographers. This photograph features Rebecca and Harry, a remarkable couple whose love I had the honour of capturing at the majestic Howden Minster, located in East Yorkshire. This image, taken just after they signed the register, marks the beginning of their journey as a married couple, encapsulated within the ancient walls of this historic venue.

What makes this image stand out, earning it recognition from the Guild, is the beautiful natural light that cascades into the frame from the side. This divine light highlights Rebecca and Harry, bathing them in a warm, ethereal glow and accentuating the grandeur of Howden Minster’s ancient stonework and wood panelling. The interplay of light and shadow brings a dynamic depth to the scene, adding a sense of timelessness and serenity that echoes the enduring nature of their union.

I love the way the light envelops them. It’s as if the venue itself is acknowledging their union, wrapping them in a warmth that speaks of centuries of history, of countless stories told within these walls. These elements transform the photograph into something more than a mere capture of time; it becomes a gateway to the past, a celebration of the present, and a hopeful glance towards the future.

Receiving this award from the Guild of Photographers is an immense honour, underscoring my commitment to capturing the essence and emotion of each couple’s special day. It is a reminder of the importance of light in photography and the profound impact of setting in telling a love story.

I extend my deepest gratitude to Rebecca and Harry for allowing me to share their joy and document their love in such a splendid setting. Their trust in me to capture such a significant moment in their lives drives my passion and dedication to my craft.

This award inspires me to continue exploring the interplay of light, location, and emotion in my photography. I seek out those unique, unrepeatable moments that define the essence of love and commitment. Here’s to more beautiful moments, stories of love, and the endless pursuit of capturing them in their most authentic and radiant light.

Thank you for sharing in these moments of joy and triumph with me.
