I was delighted to be chosen to photograph Stacey & Mark's wedding at Impossible. A venue that I had never been to before, so it was a great opportunity to explore this grade II listed building right in the centre of York.
Here is a look into their amazing wedding day, in their own words.
How did you Choose your Venue?
"Impossible in York wasn’t really on my radar, but there was a wedding event on and I went to look and fell in love with the oak panelling and art deco feel."
Tell me About the Proposal
"We were in Turkey and we had always joked about Mark breaking his promise when we got together that we would get married (together 12 years!) He asked me to pinky promise him and he had the ring on his little finger! I asked if he was joking quite a few times before saying yes…"
How did you Choose your Dress?
"This is a long one!
I had a dress and booked an appointment to go try on a few for the experience and then try mine on with veils etc. We had a great few hours and then when I tried mine on we realised that it had been ruined by the seamstress it went to and I was devastated.
There was a dress hung up that looked ridiculous (think the puffy one from the film Bridesmaids) and I asked to try it on to cheer me up; my mum was not amused!
It was nothing like it looked on the hanger and I fell in love with it immediately."
Tell me About the Flowers and Bouquet
"I made my wedding bouquet with books my grandad left me when he passed away. He always took me to the library as a child and I love to read now so it seemed fitting.
I didn’t have flowers for the bridesmaids, I decided on useful bags instead!
The centre pieces and arches were all made by me, my sister and mum. A real labour of love!"
How did you Personalise Your Day?
"So many ways; the bouquet, the running order (we had a cocktail hour after the wedding breakfast and invited more people to that then more still to the night do).
We had personalised tambourines, we did speeches first. Just lots of little personal touches."

Dale went above and beyond even before the wedding to help with timelines and keeping me calm!
Came to meet me in York pre wedding as we had an unusual venue and entirely understood my vision.
The photos I have are everything I wanted. They capture the love and fun of the day perfectly."

How did you Choose your First Dance Song?
"We chose our first dance song from an animated movie our youngest used to watch. Mark always said it’d be our first dance so it’s been in the bank for years as he took his time in proposing."
Best Wedding Moment
"Seeing Mark at the end of the isle looking like he might actually enjoy it 😁
Feeling the absolute love in the room when we had our first dance and it turned into a dance circle. I will never forget that feeling."
What will you Remember Most?
"The love and laughter that surrounded us all day."
Tips for Other Wedding Couples
"Enjoy it, do what makes you both happy. We had a small ceremony and wedding breakfast (36), and take moments to be together. Our sweetheart table was great for that."
Which is your Favourite Wedding Photo?
"The one we look like we are in The Gentleman I think, or our walk through town with Mark holding my bouquet, but there are really so many!"
Which Moment do you wish you Could Relive?
"The whole of it, every single minute."
What Would you do Differently?
"Absolutely nothing."
